I have been writing all my life. I tried writing my first novel in sixth grade. It didn’t turn out as I would have hoped, but it encouraged me to keep going. In college, I was sure I had to give up any author dreams and “be serious.” I pursued a degree in Biotechnology, but didn’t have the heart for it and eventually graduated with a major in Journalism. I worked as a writer, then an editor at a magazine company in New York (1999-2001), but I still hadn’t found my writing calling. I kept going privately even as I switched gears to dive into technology and spent the next 14 years as a web developer. Then in 2014, I began reading picture books to my twin children. I was hooked! And since then I have been expanding and working on my children’s writing craft. I’ve written many picture book manuscripts, a middle grade short story, a graphic novel chapter book manuscript, and I’m working on a middle grade novel.
I belong to Inked Voices and a cherished critique group I have been with since we met at The Highlights Foundation in 2016.
I live in the rolling hills of Eastern Ohio with my husband, twin 11-year-olds, and two pampered guinea pigs. When I’m not writing or playing with my kids, you’re certain to find me baking for our Celiac family, growing or learning about medicinal herbs, or curled up with a good book.
